Jacob, Herbert Sydney 1883-84 Born abt. 1864 Darnar, India. Son of Col Herbert Bruce Jacob, Indian Army, and Agnes (nee Allardyce). His mother died at sea on 20th October 1881. Married 1884 Florence Robertson in Bristol. Died 30th September 1924 Bromley, Kent. He died 5 months after his father.  
Jackson, Francis Morley 1879-80 Born December 1864 Hull, Yorkshire. Son of William Maxwell Jackson, Solicitor, and Mary Ann Elizabeth (nee Morley). Clifton College 1876-1880. Solicitor. Died 18th May 1938 Yorkshire.

Christened 13th September 1874 St. Johns Church, Bedminster, Bristol. Played rugby for Gloucestershire. Surgeon Bristol Royal Infirmary. St. Mary's Hospital, London. Royal Army Medical Corps, RFC & Royal Air Force WW1. Married Vivian Ellaine Collyer ?. Lived in Bude Cornwall. Died 27th July 1961 Parklands Rest Home, Millway Bradwinch, Exeter.

Born 20th September 1874 Ballylinny, Antrim, Ulster. Son of John Stephenson Jellie, Teacher (Mathematics and Chemistry), and Sarah (nee McCullough). Glos CCC (played 6 games between 1896-1908). Died 1960 Australia.

Jenkins, Robert Owen 1886-87 Born 1865 Goodwick, Pembrokeshire. Son of Henry Jenkins, Stockbroker, and Mary Lewis (nee Jenkins). Lived at 3 Vyvyan Terrace, Clifton. Solicitor. Married 1919 Nelly Mounter in Cardiff. Died 8th December 1939 at 4 Baron Close, Penarth, Glamorgan, Wales.  
Jenkins, Thomas Lowten Layton 1872-73

Born 9th November 1856. Son of Thomas Lowten Jenkins, Barister, and Emily Feliza (nee Vaughan). His father was a rower who twice won the Wingfield Sculls, the championship of the River Thames. His father was a member of the Clifton College council. Clifton College 1866-1871. Barrister. Married 28th September 1893 Bertha Wilson Southey at St Leonard, Streatham, London. Indian Civil Service 1875. Assistant magistrate and collector Bengal. Died 20th July 1894 Dacca, Bengal, India.

Born 1889 Llanelly, Carmarthenshire. Son of David John, owner of iron and tinplate works and founder of the Felinfoel Brewery, and Elizabeth (nee Samuel). Married 1914 Ella C. Skidmore in Bristol. Developed can beer. Died 1965 Canterbury, Kent.

Assistant Master Tiverton. Married 1897 Minnie Sarah Miles in Lewisham, London. Master at prep school at Ryhall Hall, Stamford, Lincs, Headmaster school, Tettenhall, Staffordshire. Died 24th January 1941 Barnwood House Hospital, Gloucestershire.

Jones, Averay Neville 1883-84 Born 12th January 1866 Clifton, Bristol. Son of John Averay Jones, and Emily (nee Clark). Clifton College 1877-1883. Timber Importer, Jones & Wainwright. Master Merchant Venturers 1899. Married 1903 Margaret Hughes in Long Ashton, Somerset. Died 1949 Surrey.

Jones, Herbert William Pride 1902-03 Born 1879. Son of William Pride Jones, Baker and Flour Factor and Mary (nee Carter). Christened 27 th June 1879 St. Johns Church, Bedminster, Bristol. His father owned the business Henry Jones which owned premises at 37 Broadmead, 1,3, and 5 King Street, and 20 Berkeley Place, Clifton. His grandfather, Henry Jones, invented self-raising flour in 1845. His father went bankrupt in 1909. Married 1906 Alice Diana Baker in Bromley. Kent. Lived at 29 Downs Park Road, Bristol. Died 10 th May 1944 at a nursing home in Bristol.  
Jones, Tertius 1891-92

Born 6th January 1868 Ratby, Leics. Son of Lt. Col. Alfred Stowell Jones VC, and Emily (nee Back). Cheltenham College 1881-1884. RMA Woolwich 1885-1887. Served in South Africa with the Bechuanaland Irregular Force. Played in the first match on Buffalo Bills Field. Died 26th March 1896 from an Abcess of the Liver after contracting Smallpox in Delhi, India.

Jones, William Francis Bence 1872-73 Born 9th March 1856 Lisselan, Clonakilty, Co. Cork, Ireland. Son of William Bence Jones and Caroline I (nee Dickinson). His mother was daughter of William Dickinson MP for . Rugby School. Exeter College Oxford 1874-1878. Solicitor. Died 19th November 1883. When out shooting in Clonakilty, Co. Cork, Ireland. He dropped his gun which fell to the ground and fired the contents of both barrels into his ankle. His leg had to be amputated and he died of shock the following day.

Born 1866 Llandaff, Glamorgan. Son of David Joseph, Civil Engineer, Colliery Owner, Manager of Plymouth Iron Works Merthyr Tydfil , and Mary (nee Morgan). Amersham Hall School, Caversham. Lawyer. He took the name Watkin and married his cousin Elizabeth Joseph in 1904. No children. Member of The Cocoa Tree Club, St. James Street. London. Died 11th April 1929 St. Raphael, South France.

 
Jotham, Frederick Charles 1873-74 Born 1853 Kidderminster, Worcs. Son of Dr. George William Jotham. Christened 5th June 1853 St. George's Church, Kidderminster. Wine Merchant then Accountant. Married 1887 Mary Catherine Anne Laxton. His wife was the sister of possible Clifton player Warren George Laxton and Aunt of his son, Matthew Henry Laxton, who did play for Clifton. Son Captain Eustace Jotham killed in WW1 and awarded the Victoria Cross posthumously. Died 5th December 1931 Cambridge.  
Joux, R. de 1894-95 Thought to be John Sedley De Joux. Born 1887 Mauritius. Son of Cephas Mark de Joux, Civil Servant, and Emma Mary Thomasine (nee ?). His father was Secretary to the Council of Government and Registrar of the Land Court of Maurtitius. Married 1914 Mary Olivia McCall at Farnham, Surrey. Lt.Col South Staffordshire Regiment WW1. Died 30th July 1949 Littlemead, Fleet, Hampshire.

Just, Ronald Dayas 1919-20 Born 1898 Bristol. Son of Berthold Wolfgang Just, Commercial Traveller (Stationary) and Katherine Sarah (nee ?). Family originally from Stuttgart, Germany. Christened 17th September 1898 St. Savior, Woolcot Park, Glos. Married 1928 Batrice Mary Lovelace in Marylebone, London. Died 28th December 1975 Lambeth, London. His wife died 16 weeks before. Reqiem mass 6th January 1976 at St. Matthew's, Great Peter Street, London. Cremated.
