He was born on the 17th August 1929. Educated at Clifton College from April 1938 to 1947. He captained Clifton in 1951-52. He was known at the club as "White with a Y"

He moved from Clifton to Harlequins. He's seen here at the White City where Harlequins played a number of games before the Stoop Ground opened in 1963. He played for both Gloucestershire and Somerset at rugby. He went on to become a Schoolmaster at Millfield school.
