The Bristol side chosen was very inexperienced. The front five, including Mark Regan, had less than 20 senior appearances between them. They decided to rest the majority of their senior side for the match with London Scottish in 3 days time. Clifton, packed with ex-Bristol players, were in no mood to take any prisoners.
This match was Kyran Bracken’s debut for Bristol, There were five Bristol debuts in the game: Bracken, plus both props (Nick Bartlett and Andy Crocker), full back Paul McCormack and replacement Leon Blackman. Only Bracken appeared for the first team again!
Clifton were winning 10-0 inside 17 minutes. Doug Woodmans second try equalled the Clifton record of 33 in a season.
Clifton won the game 23-7, the second time Clifton had beaten Bristol this season. Bristol 's first and to date only defeat at Cribbs Causeway. Clifton had beaten Bristol on New Year's Day in 1992, 17-14 at the Memorial Ground and lost a Pilkington Cup game 30-4 at the Memorial Ground on November 30th 1991.
