Richard Ellison Strachan

Father of Charles and one of the founder members of Clifton Rugby Club in 1872.

 

Richard Gething Strachan

He was born on the 31 st March 1911. The son of Walter Strachan. He was educated at Clifton College from 1915 to 1929. He played for Clifton RFC during the 1930s. He became a Solicitor with David Johnstone & Co. in Bristol.

 

Charles Strachan

Clifton’s first captain.

 

Walter Strachan

He was born on the 22nd September 1856 in Cheltenham. Charles’s brother. He was educated at Clifton College from 1868 to 1874. He joined Clifton RFC in 1872-73 and played rugby for Gloucestershire in 1882. He was a Barrister.

Above the signature of Walter Strachan from an Indenture dated the 24th December 1889 regarding a Lace Factory on Woodborough Road, Nottingham between his father Richard Ellsion Strachan and Edmund Pratt, Jessie Hind and William Lockwood.

He died on the 14th June 1936.
