He was born on the 29th December 1979 in Glasgow. Educated at Bristol Grammar School and Hughes Hall, Cambridge. After having played for Clifton in the junior section he returned and played for the 1st XV in 2005-2006.

Above Scrum half, Ross Blake, v Steele Bodger XV at Grange Road on 29th November 2006. Cambridge won 35-5.

His brothers Bobby and Donald both play for Clifton.

On December 12th 2006 Cambridge won the 125th Varsity match 15-6

The last time a Clifton player had captained a varsity side was exactly 100 years ago when, in 1907, Worthington Wynn Hoskin captained Oxford.
